One a year we do a family snow/ski trip and this year we decided to visit Park City, Utah for the first time. All the Park City itinerary suggestions are family oriented, but you could also do it with friends or your love partner.

THINGS TO DO:

Woodward Park– the best place for kids and adults. Here you can do snow tubing, skiing, take various lessons and have a play time at their indoor hub for kids. The indoor hub has trampolines, climbing wall, jumping sections for kids of various ages as well as some extreme sports action sections. My daughter did a couple of rounds of tubing and then she went to the indoor hub and let me tell you- we had a hard time getting her out of there. First of all, its full of kids and games, second of all its nice and warm inside as opposed to outside. The great thing for parents, you can leave your kid at the indoor hub for 2 hours and the staff looks after them while you ski or go for tubing.

Cliff Spa– a must do while in Utah! This was one of my favorite thing to do, as me and my mom spent all day relaxing there. Note, its not in the Park city but at the Snowbird mountain so you might have to travel 30-60 min depending on traffic each way, but its totally worth it! The Cliff spa has the dry sauna, steam room, outdoor heated pool and hot tub with the most amazing views of the mountains! They also offer yoga and meditation classes, numerous treatments and gym access. If you don’t want to get a treatment you can access this spa by buying $50 day pass ($10 more if you take yoga class) and spend the whole day there! There are few restaurants located downstairs at the Cliff lodge and you can leave the spa, have lunch/dinner and come back.

Ice Skating at the Resort Center– we are big fans of ice skating so the first day we headed straight to the ice rink. This one is located in Park city and next to a ski mountain. Its super cute and cozy, has sections with outdoor couches and fire pits as well as numerous shops and cafes around it. Its not very big so it can get crowded during holidays and prime times, the cost of entrance and rental is approx $25 per person.

Skiing- I have done a lot of research prior to going to Park City and found the best prices at the mountains outside of Park City. We got ski lessons for my daughter and the prices in Park city were really high so we went twice to Brighton mountain and once to Alta Mountain. Both of them are actually way more beautiful than the mountains in Park City, as you get the best feel for the authentic and wild environment. Kids group lessons were around $100 for 2 hours at Brighton and Alta Mountain had an option of dropping off your kid for the full day (9am-3.15pm) with lunch included for only $200! Since Alta is next door to the Cliff Spa, one of the days we dropped off my daughter for full day ski lesson and spent all day relaxing at the spa worry free.

Main Street- this is the most popular street in Park City, Utah. Here they celebrate the famous Sundance Film Festival every year end of January. Its about 3-4 blocks of shops, cafes, galleries and restaurants and its a great place to go for an evening walk!

WHERE TO STAY:

Fancy- If you want to splurge on the hotels in Park City, I suggest staying at Deer Valley. All of the resorts here are of the highest quality (and the highest price tag), but you get the best attention and quality. Deer valley has its own ski mountain so you could do ski in-ski out right from your hotel. The village looks like a cute European town and it is famous for the Hallmark movies filmed there, like “Falling for Christmas” with Lindsey Lohan. Right now at the Goldener Hirsch they offer Apres ski happy hour from 2-4.30pm at the outdoor space that is decorated as European chalet with fireplaces and cozy blankets.

Affordable- We stayed for two nights at Newpark Hotel & Resort and it was actually amazing! We got the luxury suit so it came with the private hot tub on our balcony which made a huge difference. The room was also very big, had fireplace, full kitchen, in-suite laundromat and full soaking bathtub. If you go with the regular room, you can still enjoy hotel’s outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi as well as well equipped gym. The resort is surrounded by so many shops and restaurants they you can literally walk 2-3 minutes to get anything you want/need! For breakfast we loved Hill’s Kitchen and for dinner we tried Bartolo and Hearth & Hill and both of them were great!

On the budget- if you won’t be spending much time in your room and looking for the cheapest option, you could stay in Salt Lake City or the small towns around it. The first three nights we stayed at Cottonwood heights which is conveniently closer to Brighton and Alta mountains and the neighborhood was safe, quiet and full of restaurants to choose from. Note though, you will need to have the car to travel around or take a bus to Park city everyday.
